The ports of Nantes Saint-Nazaire and Le Havre receive high environmental recognition

01 Feb 2015

ESPO is delighted to congratulate the French ports of Nantes St Nazaire and Le Havre for achieving the Port Environmental Review System (PERS) certification after the positive evaluations of their respective applications by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance. Both ports achieve PERS certification for the first time and ESPO warmly welcomes them to the distinguished network of PERS certificate holders. With these certifications the number of PERS certified French ports rises to four, making France the country with the highest number of valid PERS certificates.

PERS is the only port sector specific environmental management standard. It is the flagship product of the EcoPorts network and is offered as part of the ESPO services to its members through the EcoPorts website (www.ecoports.com). Compliance with the PERS standard is independently assessed by Lloyd’s Register Quality Assurance and the certificate has a validity of 2 years. There are currently 21 ports in Europe that hold a valid PERS certificate. ESPO is delighted to observe the increased interest shown to PERS by European port authorities and encourages all ports within its membership to implement the scheme and to get certified.
